Caroline Walker and Cecily Brown Steal the Show During London’s Auction Week

Major auction heat for artists Caroline Walker and Cecily Brown at Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Phillips winter sales this past week. Walker’s The Puppeteer sold for three times its estimate at £693,000 (est. £150,000-£200,000) during Christie’s 20th/21st century sales.
At Sotheby’s, Cecily Brown’s The Nymphs topped the evening auction at £2.8 million (est. £2.5 million-£3.5 million), while Walker made another strong showing with In Every Dream Home, climbing over three times its high estimate at £490,000 (est. £100,000-£150,000).
At Phillips, Walker stole the show once again. The Scottish painter’s Threshold set a new auction record for herself with a £730,000 hammer (est. £150,000-£200,000). Meanwhile, Brown saw one of the auction’s strongest results at £1.8 million (est. £1 million – £1.5 million).
